You like turnovers? Well, we’ve got the game for you! The first half of this “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers was headlined by both defenses being able to create takeaways. Remarkably, despite losing the turnover battle through two quarters, the Niners entered the locker room with a 10-3 lead.
That was thanks to a 72-yard touchdown drive to begin the game for San Francisco that chewed just under nine minutes of game clock. That culminated with a Brock Purdy touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings, but mayhem ensued after that. Purdy rattled off three consecutive drives where he threw an interception, particularly struggling on throws deep down the field. Jaycee Horn was on the receiving end of two of those picks, while fellow Panthers corner Mike Jackson recorded the other.
Despite all this, Carolina scored just three points as its offense has been sluggish. Bryce Young had just 28 yards passing in the half and threw an end-zone interception on his second possession of the evening.
